Thanksgiving

Yikes! Here I am the day before Thanksgiving creating a blog while my first pecan pie is baking in the oven.

Never have I had so much time to prepare for Thanksgiving. Usually, at this point, I am watching the clock either on my computer or my watch, hoping that we are released early from work. In between my glances at the clocks, I am making and editing lists. A list of things last minute things to buy is one. Another list would be the stores. Of course, I must be efficient. I would outline what store and list them geographically to save time. The next list would be what needs to be done around the house. What do I really have to clean tonight and what can I do tomorrow while dinner is in the oven.

This year is totally different. Earlier this month I was downsized or whatever term you want to use. No matter the term, it still means you don't have a job or a purpose for your day time hours. As of now, everything has been purchased and organized. All of the ahead things (pecan pie and cranberry bread) have been baked. (SICK alert) In fact, the house is decorated for Christmas and I was just ironing the Christmas napkins.

Even with my life in a scary transition (more later), I am still thankful for many of the same things:
  • My two grown daughters - they are smart, beautiful and have minds of their own (everything I wished)
  • My granddaughter - She is fabulous!
  • Friends - not to brag, but I have some of best friends in the world (supportive, loyal, smart & fun)
  • Energy - can't accomplish anything without energy and drive
  • Optimism - the best is yet to come
  • Health - I am able to physically get to where I want to go
  • Life - every turn is an adventure
  • Thanksgiving dinner - It's small at my house, but it's good food and company. And, this year we are playing Tripoly!!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday. - MOM
